The Alpha Chapter is committed to providing leadership and service to the TCU School for Classical & Contemporary Dance (SCCDance), the TCU community, the Fort Worth/Dallas metroplex community, and the field of dance.
Events and updates
Brown Bag
Brown Bag Dance! is a long-standing student showcase produced by the members of the Alpha Chapter of XTE once each semester. BFA dance majors present and perform previously or newly choreographed works. This informal, noon-time concert not only provides performers and dancemakers in the SCCDance with a pathway to explore, create and share but also provides our campus community the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of our efforts.
This semester's Brown Bag was held on March 1st.
Dancetcu
DanceTCU is the major production each semester in the School for Classical & Contemporary Dance. The upcoming DanceTCU concert will feature Act II of "Giselle," staged by Jessica Zeller and Keith Saunders, a new work by faculty choreographer Gabriel Speiller, as well as works by guest choreographers Jamila Glass and Sidra Bell. This event showcases BFA dance majors as performing artists and includes a range of classical and contemporary dance works.
This semester's DanceTCU performance was November 2-4th!
senior Choreography showing
DanceTCU presents the “Pinnacle”. The Class of 2024 creates and produces their choreographies and BFA majors perform. Two nights only/separate programs each evening.
The seniors held their concert on December 5th and 6th in Erma Lowe Hall!
TCU's Chi Tau Epsilon Honor Society has a long relationship with AIDS Outreach Center of Tarrant County, and has been hosting benefit concerts on behalf of the organization since 1993 – annually since 2005. In 2012, we began inviting professional companies and dance academies to join us in this benefit performance. For us, this has been a two-fold way to serve: we support the AOC with funding and our field with performance opportunities. All proceeds from this concert go directly to AOC and are used to raise awareness, to support client services and programs, and to educate our communities. (www.aoc.org)
In April of 2021, the Alpha Chapter ‘pivoted’ fundraising for AOC to an auction in order to meet the challenges of the pandemic on live performance. We raised over $2500! We will continue to host an auction during the fall semester each year. The 2023 auction took place on December 8th and 9th, and Chi Tau Epsilon was able to raise $850 for AIDS Outreach Center of Tarrant County.
At present, we produced the AOC Benefit Concert as an in-person event in the Erma Lowe Hall Studio Theatre on February 24, 2024.
